Monument national à la Résistance des Glières — Attraction in Bonneville

I was there Sep 2022 with my sister & French brother-in-law who live in Flaine in Haute Savoie. They have visited and Xcountry skied there often, but did not know they even could go inside the monument till this visit! I found the whole thing very moving, as did they and the minimalist interior with explanation of the monument’s design also incredibly touching - we hiked and picnicked and then had coffee and tartes aux myrtilles at the little café with the lovely hostess from Île de Réunion… really educational and lovely day...

The monument is certainly eye catching. It's a question of taste whether you like it aesthetically, but the story of the resistance is powerful. At the moment, there are information panels next the monument with photos and stories in English and French about the brave men and women who tried to resist the occupation and who were overpowered...

Quel lieu extraordinaire, chargé d'histoire. Cette sculpture monumentale est en fait une chapelle moderne érigée en mémoire des gens qui ont résisté sur le plateau en 1944.
