Stopped off at this monument just for a quick peek but unfortunately it was closed at the time (check opening times before visiting but at TOR it was 2 hours in the morning and 2 in the afternoon). Mea culpa....
However, it looks mighty damn impressive and you might get a great view from inside the monument. Also a bit mad to have a monument to the glory of Napoleon and the Grande Armée that was stopped, started, stopped then finished off years after their final defeat. Read moreWhen we arrived in Boulogne-Sur-Mer we had some time to kill. We noticed this statue from the other side of town.
So we drove around, knowing it was closed (fenced and gated area) and parked nearby. From what we saw it was an awesome structure, and the grounds were very well kept. I think that this would be something pretty amazing to go in and experience as I understand it you can go up to a viewing balcony when its open.
