Beautiful Basilica wherein lies the incorrupt body of the Saint Jean-Marie Baptiste Vianney, Patron Saint of Parish Priests.
Mass times are displayed outside the Basilica, however these times are not to be relied upon because we decided to attend the 11am Sunday Mass, but when we arrived in good time, turned out there was no 11am Mass!! This was a great disappointment .... to have undertaken this camping trip especially to visit Ars and to be here for Sunday Mass, only to find there was none at 11am - what a disgrace! This was in mid-May.
Next door to the Basilica is the presbertary, where the holy Priest lived in heroic virtue, and whose fame spread far and wide. It is reported that over a 120,000 people attended to his funeral in 1859.

Read moreThe road to the Basilica Shrine of Ars was not easy. Actually, I started my journey to Basilicas Shrine of Ars started from Seoul(Korea) in Aug. 2015. When i arrived at Lyon, but still the road to this Basilica was not clear. Thanks to Google map and lady met at a Hotel, I took a train to Villefranche-sur-Saône(from Gare de Lyon Part-Dieu it took only 22min) and took taxi(only 22 euro and it took only 15 min from the Villefranche-sur-Saône station). Mass at the Basilica was overwhelming and thanks to Lord, I could have mass intention for my friend. I have intention to visit this this Basilica again. We were paying a visit and promised to the Saint of Ars because he made a HUGE miracle in our family and the opportunity to go there, visit his village, home, the Basilica, and the small town… was magical.
This place is something else… you can feel the peace and love in the atmosphere and we would recommended to everybody 🙏
