We didn’t know what to expect but we loved it! Our 5 & 6 years old had mixed feelings. Our daughter didn’t enjoy it as much but our 6yo son said it was the best part of the holiday. It’s a 1h30~ish visit with a guide, they speak English or French and both visits seemed to start every 15mn. You don’t need to pre-book. There’s a parking close to the parc and another one at the castle with just a 2mn walk. The visit itself is fun and you’ll learn a lot about the vikings and the villagers of Normandy back then. They let the kids try on a few tools and wear the Viking’s helmets. It’s an evolving outdoor museum run by volunteers so it keeps growing. In 2023 they are building a Church so depending when you visit next you might see the end result or it might still be in construction! They explain how people lived and what they used in daily life. Its not a place for letting the kids run wild, it is a guided tour. We loved it and found it very interesting and fun to do, but for kids I guess it depends on the child and if they are curious or not! Our daughter likes princess and glitters so… yep. Not for her. Our son is ready to become a Viking and go terrorise some random villagers somewhere ;) I’d recommend it, it’s a great place and the...
Read moreReally loveded this visit which was made so enjoyable by the staff and volunteers. Very knowledgeable and passionate about the local history. No on-site cafe, so advise taking your own food. There is a creperie van outside the facility but not sure if this is permanent. Good transport links via bus. In terms of accessibility, it is fairly flat but the terrain is mixed in places. Allow 2-3 hours for a leisurely visit. The Ornavik parc is very close to Beauregard (including the high ropes adventure Park, which is excellent). So if you are planning a visit, look at doing both. There is also a large park/gardens, which is...
Read moreWe had an interesting family visit. The staff are friendly and enthusiastic. However the park is not as engaging for children as expected. Except for the ancient board games there is not much else for them to do. It is by no means an "immersion" as advertised: no actors, kids don't dress up, no activities really. Just staring at a reconstructed Viking boat is no...
