The vineyard was lovely but I'd avoid getting a tasting from the blonde woman. She only made eye contact with my husband the entire time and ignored me, even though I'm the one that requested the tasting when we arrived. I initially thought it was because I was Black, but she did it to the couple next to us as well (who were not). Women be ready. Super disappointing. She also provided no direction to the tasting and only told us which grapes were used and then would walk away. There was an employee next to her (who's only been on the job two days mind you) and I learned more overhearing his tasting than I did from her. She also became incredibly agitated at my husband when he asked if it was possible to have a glass of wine and walk the grounds. We learned this was not allowed but there are much more polite ways to communicate that. We bought a bottle anyway despite her. In short: lovely wine, beautiful vineyard, avoid the...
Read moreGorgeous place. An absolute must visit in Châteauneuf-du-Pape if what you want is not just wine tasting, but immerse into the history, passion, spirit and traditions of the winemaking in the region. You will want to spend hours here, wandering around the estate, the cellars.
We visited on the Veraison day (and you guys were right - good luck with parking in the village :-D) and were worrying, because we had the guided tour appointment and were running late due to heavy traffic. But as we rushed in, we realized we should not. This is Province, so chill!
The tour was amazing - book the one with premium tasting in the 16-century cellar, you will not regret it. Alexis is the best tour guide you can get, so lucky you if you join him! Passionate, full of knowledge and humor, and will make your day, believe me.
Wines are absolutely beautiful and very reasonably priced (the ones open for...
Read moreWe did a tour in June 2025. It was a very warm day and our guide made sure to keep us out of the sun. She showed us why the vineyard prospered as long ago as it did, the story of the destruction of all the vines due to the pests, and the subsequent fix by grafting which saved the European wine industry. La Nerthe has so much history and is well worth a guided visit. At the end, we tasted 5 wines with our guide. She was open and wanted us ti participate which was a breath of fresh air for those who don’t always pick up things like “hay” or “barn” in wines (lol!). Recommend this tour for anyone looking to experience one of the oldest wineries...
