Superb walk. From the parking lot (€10 in july and august) i walked down to the bridge which crosses the river and took the dirt track on the left hand side to walk upstream in the direction of Leger de Mt Ventoux. Ascending 200 meters in 2 kilometers offers a fantastic view over the gorge. Later it descends back to the river. This was approx 75 minutes. Reaching the next bridge crossing the river i started my way back through de water. The water was rather chilly but most time i could walk on the banks or just with the ankles in the water, sometimes i had to go in knee deep. Half way the gorge it starts to become more difficult to climb through the rapids. At the narrowest point, i had to go through 1.5 meter deep water to pass it. Back through the river took me about 3 hours. Really spectacular views but make sure the weather forecast is steady. The river doesnt have much power when quiet, but a sudden flood gives you really no possibility to escape at...
Read moreI came here in at the beginning of June, early in the season. Arrived at 10 am, the parking lot was almost full. There were plenty of tourists up and down the gorge. We did a hike we found on All Trails that took us three miles up above the gorge (great views) there were a few people doing this. There was no spot along the river without other people there enjoying it as well. It is probably not so pleasant later in the season, but it was a stunning and unique environment, with blue water holes to swim in and trout in the river when we went. I will agree with other reviews that the river hike can be tricky in places--a combination of boulders and rapids. You should have good river shoes and be nimble enough to climb and wade in less than easy situations. And keep an eye on the weather, there are plenty of warnings about flash floods. There was a thunder storm right...
Read moreThis is a wonderful river walk that winds its way up along flat planes and through mountain gorges. You are walking IN the stream so bring water shoes or hiking sandals and while most of it is only ankle or calf deep, there are some places (near the gorges) where it gets waist deep.
You can park in 2 places. In the main parking area you walk down to the bridge and enter the river there, in the other parking lot, you have to walk up the river a little ways to get to the bridge. To get to the gorges and deeper parts of the river you must go upstream from the bridge (where they sell ice cream). You can walk for 10 minutes or for hours, and there are lots of banks on the river where you can get out of the water and sunbathe or have lunch, or just sit and relax. A great afternoon plan for couples...
