A pro tip for all the other Marines. If you are planning to visit here as well as Devil Dog Fountain, they are not located on the same exact grounds. They are about between a quarter mile and a half mile apart. If you find that the gate to Devil Dog Fountain is locked. Just go to the Marine Monument security/ visitor building. It is the building on the right when you drive up. Then just ask for the key to the gate, and they will be happy to oblige.
