Château de Bouthonvilliers — Attraction in Châteaudun

We stayed at Chateau Bouthonvilliers for a week. The surroundings are absolutely estonishing as well are the wonderful people who run the organization behind it. Edouard and Alexia were very welcoming and made sure we always could ask questions and that we had everything we needed. The beautiful chateau allowed us to dream away everyday and the domain itself breathes peacefulness.

We had brunch everyday via the catering service from the chateau. Every morning the food was set out as a buffet. The amounts were good and the food was tasty.

In short: a wonderful location for our group of about 30 people to celebrate our wedding and relax.

Family ownership makes a huge difference—you can feel the love and care the De Verduns devote to preserving their ancestral home. We stayed for a few days in the gîte and loved it so much we decided to host our wedding at Bouthonvilliers! We know we made the perfect choice. The region is as rural as it gets—no flash, no tour buses, just real people and straightforward little towns. Bouthonvilliers may seem out of the way, but it’s an hour or so from pretty much everything, which is really unusual: Normandy, Chenonceau, Chambord, Blois,.... We booked and paid a deposit to have our small wedding of 30 at Chateau Bouthonvilliers. Sadly the owners did not honour our booking. They tried to charge us almost £2000 above the advertised price we booked at. A really horrible thing to do to someone who is trying to arrange a small wedding. They then said they will let us keep the booking if we pay the 7 day rate for just 3 days. At this point we knew they were just trying to rip us off and we were forced to cancel the booking leaving us back at square one with our wedding venue.
