It is a wonderful experience to stand in front of legacies that are thousands of years old. It is no longer known exactly what the stones were erected for, but they must have been extremely impressive for people at the time. I wouldn't go here just for the stones, but you can combine a trip with a short walk around Pen Hir. Afterwards you can go for a meal in the harbour of Camaret, which makes...

This is a very interesting site, and it's special in that it's on the coast. It's unfortunate that local town planning has allowed building so close to the site. It would benefit from more signage and podcasts about the history, ideally in a few languages. It would be good to have signage in braille. It was okay to push a stroller, but I'm not sure about...

Non loin de la pointe de Pen-Hir, la commune de Camaret-sur-mer possède un alignement de mégalithes (menhirs) qui détient deux caractéristiques assez rares de nos jours : un parking et un accès au site qui sont gratuits. Contemporain de Carnac, le site de Lagatjar possédait environ 600 mégalithes en 1776. Mais un siècle plus tard, il n’en restait plus qu’une centaine. Lorsque le site devint la propriété d’un aréopage d’acteurs publics locaux en 1928, les mégalithes furent redressés pour offrir le spectacle intrigant et magnifique que vous pourrez admirer si vous prenez le temps de vous y arrêter. Si vous marchez quelques minutes en direction de la mer, vous trouverez le manoir en ruine du poète marseillais surréaliste Saint-Pol-Roux, manoir qu’il fit construire en 1904. La vue sur l’océan et le bout de la presqu’île couverte de bruyère...
