Forest Museum Renwez — Attraction in Charleville-Mézières

Plenty of parking. Good exhibitions with some information in English indoors and an informative film (about 15mins). Outside walk through the forest has a clear path with lots of exhibitions of old forest practices and scences illustrating forest activities. Two indoor exhibitions. Took about 90mins walk outside with a 3 year old. There were some colouring activities for children inside. The small shop had some appropriate items to remember the first, not expensive. Staff were fantastic, very helpful and took time to help. The lady who helped us spoke excellent English and helped with our attempts and French. Particularly kind to our 3 year old which was lovely. As others have stated this is a quiet and well run museum on the woodland flora, fauna of the area … and mostly about the development of working practices and mechanisation for harvesting wood.

You can go at you own pace with an audio guide and you will quickly find many items of interest. Like many things in life, what seems basic at a superficial level quickly becomes a source of wonder and interesting detail as soon as you scratch the surface. An industry that is easy to take for granted. Yet you will be left in awe of the sheer effort and practical ingenuity of those who worked...

Je mets 4 étoiles, juste a cause du chantier qui gâche un peu le paysage, sinon j'en aurais mis 5. Le musée de la forêt, devrait plutôt se nommer "musée des métiers de la forêt", car il traite un peu plus des métiers , que de la faune et flore. Mais cela ne retire en rien son originalité. L'accueil est bon, la demoiselle souriante et motivée, même lorsqu'on demande un café (qui est bon). La visite est en trois étapes : le hall, la visite audio-guidée intérieure, et la visite audio-guidée extérieure. Le tout dure entre deux à trois heures ! selon motivation. Si l'audio guidé n'a pas le charme d'un guide en chair et en os, cela a le mérite d'aller droit au but. Vous trouverez un spectacle de marionnettes, des quiz interactifs, de la taxidermie, des maquettes, des outils, des photos, des dioramas, et tout un tas de choses qui vous laisseront nombres de souvenirs. Vous avez la possibilité de boire un café, des boissons fraîches (bières, soda, jus de fruits, ou même de manger un croque Monsieur pour seulement 3€... Il y a même une boutique de souvenirs, ou vous pourrez acquérir un nichoir, une sculpture faite avec une tronçonneuse et autres, à des prix très abordables.
