A really good beach with a lot of history. We went to Omaha a year or two ago which was very special but very busy with pay parking etc, this is a lot easier free parking and lots of roadside parking. The beach is amazing and to the left dogs can be off the lead and to the right dogs on a lead. Obviously thinking about all those soldiers who were injured and killed and the battle is very thought provoking and chilling, on the other side the beach is beautiful and I went paddling with the dogs in beautiful warm water with lots of little fish swimming in the shallow waters which thinking about the soldiers is mind blowing. Throughout the area you will find many monuments dedicated to the different units who were integral to the successful beach landing. While you are there I recommend dining at La Roosevelt Cafe which is filled with tons of history and artifacts. The tables are signed by veterans of the war. Just behind the cafe you'll find the 00 monument for Utah beach. There is one monument every kilometer from Utah Beach to Bastogne. We ran out of time to see the Museum so plan at least 2.5 hours...
