Mixed feelings about this ski area First the positive: It is a very charming oldschool/vintage ski area. Could be classified as a hidden gem. Their ski runs have a good length and are challenging. They are not as heavily groomed as in modern resorts. The view from the top is amazing. Their teleskis are fun to ride, but (now come the bad parts) it broke down all the time, to the point it was standing still for 40min!? I could do 2 ski descents! I wasnt even able to get to the other ski lift (Hinterschallern).
Also another bad aspect is the ski pass booth, which is the same as the bar. So one booth and one (or sometimes two) vendors selling drinks and ski passes at the same counter?! Of course it was chaotic and even one french Karen harassed me, because she thought I was skipping the line, which was not true.
I then left after just 2 runs a bit unsatisfied and drove to Schnepfenried instead for the remaining day. Too bad for the 17 euro half day ski...

Read moreLe Gaschney a reéquipé et relancé ses pistes de ski, mais elles restent peu nombreuses et assez techniques, contrairement au Schnepfenried juste en face. À réserver aux connaisseurs. Par contre on s'attache très vite à cet endroit lorsqu'on découvre les nombreuses destinations de randonnées vers lesquelles il permet de rayonner, Hohneck, Schlucht, Frankenthal, Schiessroth, sentier des Roches, Martinswand, .... et après un dîner marcaire chez Claude à la ferme-auberge pour reprendre des forces on a déjà hâte...
