Sublime Point — Attraction in Florac

Wow! This viewpoint is stunningly beautiful, and a must if you're visiting the Gorges du Tarn. Follow the signposts from La Malène if you are driving.

As you approach, you won't get any sense of what awaits you. It's only when you step out onto the viewing platform that the views of the Gorges below become truly visible. This theatrical last-minute sight only enhances your experience.

Le Point Sublime est une plate-forme d'observation naturelle en amont des Gorges du Tarn, d'où vous pourrez profiter d'une vue impressionnante sur la vallée du Tarn et le Causse Méjean en face. La profondeur des gorges atteint ici plus de 400 mètres. Il est particulièrement impressionnant de voir comment les parois rocheuses situées sous la plate-forme descendent abruptement vers le Tarn. Les vautours locaux se sont installés dans les grottes et les niches des parois rocheuses; ces oiseaux peuvent être observés en grand nombre de la plate-forme alors qu'ils tournent dans le ciel au-dessus du Cirque des Baumes, portés par les courants thermiques. Un parking, un petit snack-bar et un office de tourisme sont disponibles au Point Sublime. Cela vaut vraiment la peine d'y faire un tour!

The Point Sublime is a viewing platform above the Gorges du Tarn, from which you can enjoy impressive and breathtaking views over the Tarn valley and the opposite Causse Méjean. The gorge reaches a depth of over 400 meters at this point. It is particularly impressive how the rock walls below the platform drop steeply down to the Tarn. Local vultures have settled in the caves and niches of the rock walls; many of these birds can be observed from the platform as they circle in the sky above the Cirque des Baumes, carried by the thermals. This Pointe Sublime overlooks the Gorge du Tarn (not to be confused with the viewpoint overlooking the Gorge du Verdun with the same name).
