Via ferrata du Vicdessos — Attraction in Foix

One of the best bis ferratas I did so far. A bit scary from exposure and 8 bridges. Amazing view of the valley. Takes a bit of endurance due to its length. We spent 3h including approach and descent. I did the north face, there's also a shorter beginner circuit in the south face.

There's an operator with a booth, equipment rental and guide hire. But you can go with your own equipment and without a guide. We came in the afternoon, after they closed, and there was no guide or signs indicating otherwise. If you want to go with a guide, go to the reception booth in Vicdessos, at the car park of the "Mairie" bus stop.

La via ferrata est très belle.

Bon, on possède notre matériel. Et c'est un peu l'esprit de la via ferrata que d'aller de l'une à l'autre avec son matériel. Ici, j'ai dépensé 53 euros (l'ado et moi) pour aller faire une via en laissant le matériel dans la voiture. Le site de location du matériel est à 4 ou 5 kilomètres de la via ferrata, donc on on loue du matériel avec une valeur ajoutée sur place assez limitée.

C'est une via ferrata avec un système de ligne de vie continue, donc on ne peut pas la faire avec du matériel classique.

Quant à la difficulté, j'y suis allé avec une ado de 13 ans qui n'en était pas à sa première via. C'est probablement un peu physique pour des jeunes. Il n'y a pas d'échappatoire, et juste deux zones de dépassement. C'est donc un peu stressant de s'engager avec un trop jeune qui pourrait se trouver...
