The botanical gardens are well worth the stop and be prepared to stay for over an hour. This was created by Jean-Philippe Thoze from hundreds of plants he brought back from across the world. We were in a tour group, so I am not sure what the cost would be otherwise. There was a sign that showed $16 euros for adults and 11 euros for kids (just a bit more in USD). You get an introduction through the main building that showcases some of the ladies island fashion. Right outside are hummingbird feeders. We saw a bananaquit arguing with several Purple-throated Carib. Once you get past that fun, you can walk through the garden covering hundreds of plant varieties. Take your time as there is a lot to see.

The suspension bridge took about a ½ to get onto. But after that, it went pretty fast as all the ‘Instagramers’ moved on after a few photos on the bridge. It really is a beautiful view of the sea once you are in the middle. About half way through the bridge, no one was in front of me anymore - like they just disappeared. You can really get some wonderful photographs of the mountains. Outside of the views that would be in any nature magazine, look for the Koi fish in the ponds.

After walking through the gardens you can get some souvenirs and ice cream to cool off. If you are feeling a bit sleepy, then get an...

We did this tour with a guide and she gave us 2 hours and she let people wander off. Only 4 of us stayed with her. At the very entrance there is a little house of the past owners. And we got alot of history of the owner who created the gardens from our tour guide. He also designed the gardens at the zoo. There are also beautiful hummingbirds feeding at the hummingbird feeder. And a photo op of a giant heart. The garden is well manicured for having only 6 gardeners. Our tour guide told us all about the plants, flowers and trees. It was interesting. There was not a lot of flowers. Mostly plants that had flowers blooming from them. There were 2 ponds with a bunch of fishes swimming together and a walking bridge up high that has some movement to it. If you don’t do the tour with the guide than you can finish fast and don’t need the 2 hours. It’s...

One of the most beautiful and breathtaking botanical gardens I have ever visited. Spectacular views and a well-curated flora and uniquely designed landscape. Do take your time to watch the short documentary in the old house at the entrance/exit about the mastermind and self-taught botanist Jean-Philippe Thoze - his commitment is impressive. Entrance is reasonably priced with EUR 16 for adults and EUR 11 for minors (starting at 3 y). Do buy some fish food for 50 cents for your children - it will pay dividends at the three fish ponds... And the souvenir shop is a treasure troph for the unwary museum shop connaisseur - not too expensive and some unique items. A must visit on Martinique. On your way check the cathedral. We took a taxi, but regular bus service is available from...
