Art Gallery & Studio ALAIN DESPERT — Attraction in French Polynesia

We visited Bora Bora in January of 2024 and discovered artwork by Alain Despert in the Four Seasons and the St. Regis. We were immediately captivated by his whimsical style and creativity. We had been searching for a piece of art for a specific area in our new home for over a year and we knew we both found that piece as soon as we walked into their lobby. We contacted the studio immediately, Karen was quick to reply and amazing to work. She set up tours in all the galleries on the island that Alain’s work was represented in and we both fell in love with a blue mosaic fish vase with flowers. We contacted Karen when we got home from our trip and purchased this piece, from start to finish she responded to every email, coordinated the transaction and followed through with us daily until our painting was literally hanging in our home. Alain’s art is gorgeous and truly one of a kind. Not to mention Karen and Alain were the best hosts I’ve ever experienced at an art gallery tour! Karen picked us up from the dock and dropped us off, and when we were there, they gave us a full tour of their home, gallery and studio, provided delicious espressos, and showed us video of Alain’s incredible accomplishments throughout the decades (with Alain providing live personal commentary of his experiences!). They showed us every individual art piece they had (the ones that weren’t on exhibit elsewhere) and I loved hearing about Alain’s art and inspiration directly from the genius himself - that’s a first for me, for someone at this level. We found ourselves in Bora Bora last December during a rainy 4 day period. The concierge at the St. Regis recommended a visit to Alain's Studio and I must say it was fabulous.
