Beautiful place for hiking and cross country skiing. Several options for different levels of health and stamina. Beautiful hike all the way to Switzerland. You get to see the Mont Blanc from the top. Also at Gex you have some options for food and drinks at the cafeteria there.

RANDONNÉE.....De trois jours dans la réserve naturelle du haut Jura ! Refuge de Varambon, très grand refuge avec eau non potable, petit bois pour démarrer le poêle, et un repas chaud ... Le chalet du sac, petit refuge tout mignon, 5 ou 6 couchages, et poêle pour la popote mais pas d'eau ce jour là. Refuge de la Poutouille, (7 couchages), une citerne existe ( il faut la chercher à 50 mètre autour) ....presque plus de bois pour chauffer la gamelle ....trois jours extraordinaires (prévoir votre autonomie en eau) dans un parc magnifique et resté sauvage

Fantástico paisaje. He tenido la suerte de visitarlo en verano y ahora en invierno. Naturaleza pura, se respira tranquilidad y aire fresco. Las vistas alegran el alma. La carretera en muy buen estado. Con nieve para los que no estamos acostumbrados es impresionante. Tiene varias pistas para esquiar y con distintas dificultades

Beautiful place for hiking for sure! It should be noted that some of the paths are pretty steep (pretty much straight up) so better bring a good physical shape along the journey. The reward is some very picturesque paths and views over the valleys and mountain ranges all around. It is possible to camp for the night (without tents), but we went for a round-trip from the Valserine campsite. Enjoyed it a lot! And we managed to spot a couple deer on...
