Station Le Planolet - Saint Pierre de Chartreuse — Attraction in Grenoble

Village in the chartreuse mountains 35 mins north of Grenoble. In a beautiful valley surrounded by the peaks Chamechaude, Grand Som and Charmant Som. Alpine skiing from the village in winter, and Nordic skiing at St Hugues in the commune, including route up to Col du Porte. Numerous well marked hiking, biking and running trails in summer. Much lower prices than big resorts but greatt atmosphere.

THE VILLAGE

St Pierre is a self contained village with small supermarket, boulangerie, boucherie, pharmacist, and fromagerie. Variety of accommodation options but nothing fancy. You can get the Transisere 7000 bus direct from Grenoble station in about 1 hr 20 mins (timetable available on line if you google transisere 7000).

WINTER

The Coeur de Chartreuse alpine ski area has St Pierre de Chartreuse, and the interconnected Le Planolet as the largest ski area. It is very much a "family" resort, with day passes around 21 euro peak times, and discounts eg: 2 for one at off peak. There is a gondola from the village up to the main skiing area, three chairs (one six seater and two four seaters) and about a dozen drag lifts. Great nursery slopes, good red runs, and a few challenging blacks plus skiing through the trees when there is enough snow.

Ski de Randonee can be done from the village on a number of routes, and also from elsewhere in the vicinity.

Nordic skiing isn't in St Pierre village, but at St Hughes in the commune, a nordic ski area connected to Col du Porte, providing wide variety of runs. Most users seem to be saking rather than classic nordic skiers.

Numerous snow-shoe trails around.

SPRING, SUMMER, AUTUMN

The area is beautiful in Spring, summer and Autumn .Inevitably it is busy in August, but it is still easy to get away from the crowds walking directly from the village, or numerous other starting points. Walks from the monastery de Grande Chartreuse carpark are quite spectacular. The easiest peak to climb is Chamant Som, where you can drive to a car park and cafe near the top and walk the rest of the way. Another good family climb is Pinia from Col du Port. For most other peaks, you should know what you are doing, even though they aren't high. The waterfall at Cirque du Meme is another great spot, about 25 mins drive via the neighbouring village of St Pierre...

Quelle belle découverte ! Merci TF1 pour le tuyau Ce petit domaine est super sympa , très familiale et des personnes tellement gentilles , serviables ! Plusieurs parkings pour se stationner, faut pas hésiter à rentrer sur le domaine les parkings sont au fond , vraiment à côté des pistes ! Les gens ont tendance à se garer des l entrée du domaine sur les bords de route sûrement qu ils ne savent pas ! Et les parkings svp sont gratuits ! Et je vous dit pas la superbe promenade pour ceux qui ne skient pas dans une superbe forêt , juste à côté du parking ! J ai pu lâcher mon petit chien qui s’est vraiment éclaté tout comme moi et mon mari sur les pistes même si elles sont petites , bon petite info à 300metres plus de tire fesses mais une navette prend le relais qui vous monte jusqu’au Le planolet! Je vous conseille vraiment les villages autour , resto etc..hyper...

Petit domaine sympathique et bien exposé mais beaucoup de points négatifs: -Non assistance à personne en danger de la part des pisteurs placés en haut des télésièges qui sont pour la plus part très désagréables; -Télésiège non débrayable violent à la réception des passagers; Le parc"pioupiou" est la définition de l'élevage intensif d'enfants entassés dans 150m2 (50 enfants sans remonté mécanique qui doivent se débrouiller a pied avec leurs ski); -Les pistes ne sont pas damées malgré seulement 20% des pistes ouvertes; -Les 4 pistes vertes sont exclusivement utilisées par les clients ESF; -Les télécabines ne sont pas sécurisées, ne ferment pas : possibilité de les ouvrir durant le trajet sans compter le supplément neige qui...
