Lovely Abbey in the sun or rain . The lawn on the way in to the abbey in spring is a mass of wild flowers and is beautiful.

The outside walks are free , but you get into the Abbey itself costs , 7€ for adults and 4€ for concessions.(2024) The ruins are architectural and very photogenic. Inside you learn of the history, with cards in different languages and an visual display showing the day of the monks who once lived there. Just outside is starting point for the Camino de Santiago. The walled garden has many fruit trees, apples and pears , bushes raspberries, red , black currants and gooseberries.. It also has various old roses , that are truly beautiful and possibly unique. There are normally exhibitions on , and when I visited , they had tapestries of satellite images taken around Brittany. These are truly amazing. There is a cafe too , if you need a break . The staff were very helpful and do speak English , if your French is...

Want to get a sense of Breton in 1201? Here it is!

The abbey is a ruin but with a little imagination you can hear it’s bells to toll. The grounds are well kept and there are little info cards in multiple languages as well as tours in French.

The lack of roofs on many of the buildings gives a surreal sense of the place and the view onto the sea makes it seems like time stopped as the views the monks had was probably similar to our modern day.

It’s a great way to start the day by a visit to the abbey and if you have time there is a lovely trail through the forrest that starts at the abbey. If you’re not in a hurry I would also recommend stopping for cake and fresh juice at the abbey cafe.

The abbey is surprisingly wheelchair / park accessible with various lifts and ramps—even if some parts will be...
