Guingamp - paimpol Tourisme Belle-Isle-en-Terre — Attraction in Lannion

Although paper mills were already in use in the 15th century in Brittany, the Valĺée family industrialised it by building a large paper mill on this site in 1855.

It became one of Brittany's largest industries, making various sorts of paper from rags and wood pulp.

Production ceased in 1965 due to competition from paper mills elsewhere in Europe.

You can see the remains of the paper mill with large information panels dotted around explaining the paper making process.

It's also the story of how nature takes over in time.

Nice area to have a walk or a picknick. Fotos and text in French English and Bretagne. Also nice walks along the river and in the forrest around. Right next to the parking is a bed and breakfast that has some cool scrapyard sculptures that you can admire...
