Although paper mills were already in use in the 15th century in Brittany, the Valĺée family industrialised it by building a large paper mill on this site in 1855.
It became one of Brittany's largest industries, making various sorts of paper from rags and wood pulp.
Production ceased in 1965 due to competition from paper mills elsewhere in Europe.
You can see the remains of the paper mill with large information panels dotted around explaining the paper making process.
It's also the story of how nature takes over in time.
