Nice little museum explaining the history of Martinique and the surrounding islands. Well put together and created. It took us about an hour and a half, taking it easy on a very rainy day, Everything is in French, but they were kind enough to lend a book in English that explained the displays, and with Google Translate we got most everything.

The museum is very pleasant. Entrance fee is reasonable, only 2 Euro/person. The staff is very friendly. The exhibition inside is about the history of Martinique and very interesting. The explanation is only in the French language. Unfortunately I don't understand French. Therefore I rate it 4 stars.

Lieu à remettre à jour. Il est inconcevable qu’une Martiniquaise ne puisse pas se retrouver dans ce musée. Une narration très européenne, lissée n’est plus acceptable en 2024. Toujours représenter l’oppresseur sous son meilleur jour mais très peu d’infos ou de représentations juste sur les peuples oppressés hors du prisme « sauvage ». Le musée sert-il à raconter une histoire de fierté aux colons? À qui s’adresse ce musée? Quel est son but? N’y a t’il pas de fond pour la recherche et la mise à jour du musée? Pourquoi utiliser des mannequins blancs peins en gris ou violet foncé avec des perruques cheveux blancs pour représenter des noirs en 2024? Avec toutes les techniques disponibles aujourd’hui, c’est inacceptable. Je déconseille fortement ce musée.

We went there on Saturday afternoon and it was supposed to be open from 2 pm until 5 pm, but when we got there it was closed. There was no notice or anything saying that it was closed. Fortunately a very nice lady who was selling some jewelry outside told us that now the museum does not open...
