Really enjoyed our visit. When we toured we were the only people onsite, perfect timing for us.
The front desk/guide lady knew so much of the history and spoke to us in English, we understand we are in France and understand and speak french as best we can but it’s all spoken so fast, understanding is difficult while we are still learning, so we really did appreciated her taking the time to help us.
Maybe just an English leaflet would help some people, I have seen on other sites they complain about there being no English. I preferred it the way is was, made us concentrate when reading the language.

Read moreUne visite guidée démarre au même moment, on se rattache au groupe et c’est partie pour 45 min d’explications. On apprend beaucoup de choses sur la vie de Josephine mais surtout sur le lieu, sa préservation, son utilité, son histoire et sur les conditions de vie et les rapports entres les maîtres et les esclaves.
Une fois la visite terminée on refait un tours en autonomie, le temps de s’attarder sur les œuvres, et d’avoir également d’autres éléments de contexte via les explications écrites.
Le moulin est magnifique malgré la symbolique, la dépendance et aussi très chargé d’histoire notamment avec l’extrait de livre notarié sur le mur.
