Hello ! my wife and I visited this chateau on Thursday 30th October 2014, we were the first guests to arrive at 10 a.m. A woman, about 40- 50 years old with blond hair and her college from Africa or the Carribean met us in the reception. We said "bonjour" in a nice way and had no response from the 50 years old guide. She said "What do you want ?"...... in an arrogant and rather hostile way. We said nice and calmly that we wanted to see the chateau. The Carribean woman asked if we needed a guide. My wife said cheerfully "No, we can look for ourselves". The blond replied dead serious and arrogant "Well. then you will not see the chateau, you can go and see the garden". I got a bit annoyed and put the money on the table for guide and chateau saying back: "Well where is the guide ?" The Carribean woman saved the situation by cheerfully saying "Here, I will be your guide !" None of them had any name signs on them, the last mentioned gave us a great guiding tour through the chateau, fantastic lady. Humor, intelligent, charm and gentle. The blonde was the extreme opposite. We have not met such a hostile and arrogant tourist guide for years travelling through Europe. She was hostile, arrogant and without manners. I hope supervisor of staff read this feedback. Guides like the blonde woman should never be allowed to work in the tourist industry in France or any other country. Visitors to chateau Bizy, beware the "dragon" of Bizy and it is no joke ! Mr. Bernt Smedvig and Ms Åshild Smedvig,...

Please do something ! Became culture ... ! ! Bien...

You must book a timed tour which are usually only available in French and they provide English or Italian text if requested, but as we were the only ones on the tour our guide did the tour in English. We were on the last tour of the day so it may be worth asking if anyone else is booked on a tour and of not if the tour can be in English if you prefer!

Our guide was fantastic and we learned a lot about the chateau, but be aware as the family still live in the castle, only 4 rooms are actually open to the public. These were interesting, but we were hoping to see more of the beautiful historic building. It does feel like the owners have opened the chateau up the least possible amount in order to get paying visitors in, but this does leave you feeling a bit unfulfilled.

In short, if you have a particular interest in the history of the chateau or are are stuck for something to do in the area give it a go, but at €9 each (including a visit to the grounds which are pleasant, but nothing Amazon) maybe give it a miss if you were hoping for an in depth tour of...

Astazi se afla in proprietatea unui cetean american. Aici a creat si si-a petrecut in tihina ultimii ani din viata pictorul impresionist Claude Monet (1840-1926).

Well worth a visit, a quiet hidden gem. The tour was excellent, they kindly provided English translations but I wish my French was better because the guide clearly gave a lot of detail. There are only a small number of rooms but each very interesting. The grounds are lovely, especially the water features. Yes, it is not perfect but as the owner has pointed out it takes a lot of time and money to maintain. You also forget the looting during WWII stripped places such as these of most of their contents - which is very sad. There is a small cafe (which could be highlighted more) and the place has so much potential (similar places in France and the UK have children's play parks, walking trails, garden shops etc) which I hope, as more people visit, will be achieved.

This chateau is worth a visit, a guided tour costs 9 euro. The guidance was in French, but there are written guides in English available. Though the level of spoken French was mediocre, most of the people should understand what the guide is talking about. Our guide was very friendly, gave us the time to look around and take a photo here and there. A very interesting tour! Beautiful gardens, unfortunately the fountains aren't maintained, which means that some didn't work anymore.
