Visited Chateau La Haye this morning with my wife Nicky. We booked the tour from the Maison du Vin in Paulliac and spoke to Maxime the tour guide by phone to make sure they were OK with us coming. We cycled the 7km to the Château through the beautiful vineyards and found the equally beautiful chateau in St Estephe built in approx1660? Maxime greeted us and we had a brilliant hour with him showing us the fermenting cellar, the wonderful oak barrels lined up in the cellar and of course some lovely wine to try. Maxime was very knowledgable and able to communicate easily in English. The tour was free as were the samples and we didn’t feel any pressure at all to buy any wine although we did buy a bottle of La Haye 2015 and had it for lunch with our bread and cheese.
