Calvados Pierre HUET — Attraction in Lisieux

Attencion. The visit was nice so 2 instead of 1, but the quality of the product we spent good money on? Not so much. After travelling a bit it appeared that the bottle had some residue on it. Didn't think anything of it, packaged it just fine in my luggage (I had multiple other glass bottles that made it home in perfect condition). Come home to see the bottle had leaked more and upon opening realized that the cork was corroded and soggy throughout with calvados pouring out of the corrosion. Still haven't had a proper sip of the stuff for fear of leaching. The distillery may be worth a visit, but buy your take home elsewhere. I tried reaching out to the distillery 2 weeks ago and they basically told me tough luck, and blamed rough handling of my luggage despite multiple other fragile things in my suitcase making it home...

The distillery of Pierre Huet is an amazing place to visit. In the heart of the Pays d’Auge, the Huet family has been making calvados for 5 generations.

The expertise and dedication results in an assortment of excellent products that are guaranteed to win you over. In fact we tried a lot of calvados houses in the region and Pierre Huet is head over shoulders the best one.

The guided tour is very interesting, the people are genuinely kind and know about everything there is to know about their products.

The calvados is amazing especially the traditional one of 15 years. The cider is unrivalled and the liquors are also superb. The prices are really fair and affordable.

Amazing place! Cozy atmosphere of “a farmhouse” combined with the cider and calvados production makes it worth spending a couple of hours (maybe more). Grand merci à Quentin, our welcoming guide there on the 7th of April. He showed us all the machines used for collection of apples and pears and for their further processing for cider and calvados making.
