The gardens are absolutely beautifully planned and maintained, with several lightly themed sub gardens with a variety of native and classic exotic species. After a tour of the gardens, the chateau offers classic French crêpes and galettes next to a 100 year old greenhouse.
The château is very interesting, and the several different historical layers can be examined, from the Plantagenet motte and bailey mound from 12th century, over the original stronghouse wall section and towers from 16th and the masonic rooms from 19th, to finally the castle itself being used as a field hospital and the quarters of von Rundstedt in 1944, and later in the 60ies as a socialite hotspot (Aznavour and others visited)

Read moreFrom the moment I stepped inside the grounds, I was struck by the impressive landscape. As I walked through the gardens, I couldn't help but marvel at the intricate detailing and craftsmanship that went into creating this magnificent castle.
The castle is steeped in history, and it was fascinating to learn about the various periods it has gone through and the many individuals who have lived there over the centuries. The current owners have done a remarkable job of preserving its historical features, including the beautiful tapestries, paintings, and furniture that date back centuries.

Read moreThis was such a completely perfect day out for me and my three children. The gardens are so beautiful and they've put a lot of thought into the visitor experience. The puzzle book for children kept my children interested as we explored the gardens and teh certificate at the end was fun, and it was a much appreciated extra benefit that they provided the booklets in English as well. The cafe was outstanding, such delicious carrot cake. There is lots of interesting historical detail provided, some rooms to see and the size of the gardens is perfect, nice for a proper walk around but not too overwhelmingly big....
