Fort Penthièvre — Attraction in Lorient

A surreal view. Just as breathtaking from the far as it is up close. Unreal to see in person, almost looks like it's out of a movie.

Walked up to look around, it is a military training facility so you can walk around but there are signs to forbid entry. An interesting underground passage leads to a small memorial to some prisoners who were shot, and an information board. Good views, parking...

It would have been nice if the museum shown on Google Maps was actually at that site but it is not. It is also unfortunate that the fortress itself except for the memorial if you're willing to climb for it . The rest of it Avalon staffed has plenty of do...
