It was a wonderful bicycle trip. The guide and all the local producers was wonderful.
However, on the last day, an unfortunate accident occurred. When the guide suddenly stopped without any hand signals, we were unable to stop safely and fell forward, got a serious injury to the face that took 10 days to recover.
Fortunately, there was no damage to the eyes, teeth, or brain, but if a large number of people were cycling at the same group and that kind of accident had happened, I think it would happened for some people to die.
What was disappointing was the company's response and attitude after the accident. The person in charge didn't contact us directly until we sent an email. That made us feel like they were ``avoiding responsibility.'' or the company might consider the accident as “ Not a big deal.”
At the very least, we believe that the company are responsible for making phone calls or sending e-mails to customers to be concerned about their injuries.
Producing something fun is easy. However, I believe that the true value of a company is how much they could be honest or be able to respond in good faith until the problems solved , when an unexpected situation occurs.
Lastly saying again, The tour was really wonderful and great.
(A sad addition ) A company that does not investigate the cause even if a serious accident occurs.
It was a straight road where there was no need , no reason to stop, and the guide suddenly stopped without any notice. A fellow rider behind me fell violently forward and suffered a serious injury that took 10 days to fully recover. The scars on his face will remain forever.
Despite this, the operating company refuses to admit its fault, saying that the drivers should have had more space between bicycles. The guide should not stop suddenly without reasons !! It’s really really dangerous.
If someone dies in the future due to an accident caused by a guide's mistake, this company will certainly not apologize or provide any...
Read moreMy wife and I did a full day tour with Wine and Ride Condrieu in September. Some things to be aware of if you are considering doing this tour:
Our e-bikes ran out of batteries in the first half of the tour. We had to endure an exhausting hill climb as a result, and the bikes are not meant to be pedaled without power. We were able to charge the batteries at the halfway point and had no further battery issues, but we were tired for the rest of the day. The weather is unpredictable. On the day we toured, the forecast for Condrieu predicted only a few millimeters of rain, but in the hills it rained enough to drench us fully. Intermediate cycling skills are recommended, due to the 50km distance and steep inclines. Beginner cyclists may get sore, and/or struggle to control the bike on the steep hills. The views on this tour are amazing We enjoyed meeting a local farmer and touring a winery The quality of the food and drink was good
Given the battery issue, I asked for a refund of approximately 15% of the tour price but no refund was given. We had a good time, but we were not satisfied with how the management handled their simple mistake of not fully charging...
