Brancion village is an interesting place to visit, but it could be a lot more interesting for visitors if basic facilities like toilets were available. Due to Convid 19 the very basic toilet just outside the village was off limits. Once inside the village/ castle complexe there is nothing...The car park is located a good 250 metres before the main entrance. Parking is free and entrance into the village too. If you wish to visit the castle it is 6 euros. Well worth it I feel. There is a great view from the old church building of the valley below. Some houses are lived in, but most seem empty. There is a small café selling drinks. Staff in the ticket office are nice, but there were no books about the history of the village or castle, which...
Read moreNice renovated middle age castle. Sadly covid-19 made it less fun for the kids. But nevertheless our 3 years old had a fun time. Specially because we both him a wooden sword in the end. The top of the castle has a nice overview over the region. So I would recommend to go to the top. Remind that you have to take some stairs to go there. The village is nice, but nothing more. I was a little bit disappointed, I expected it a bit more maintained. Some buildings are nice, others clearly needed some renovation. Typical France I guess? But in the end it was a nice visit.
