More of a local spot (than tourist) with black sand beaches, open air outdoor showers, bathrooms, and free parking. Gets very busy on weekends. Lighthouse was originally designed by Robert Louis Stevenson's father (it has been expanded since then) and is in the area where Captain James Cook visited to do scientific measurements. They have a number of information posters and some monuments that are of interest. Definitely worth a visit for these items, even if not planning to use the beach.

Point Venus, situated on a scenic peninsula in Tahiti, is a blend of tranquility and historical intrigue that attracts both locals and tourists. Encircled by beautiful black-sand beaches, the area provides a serene escape, although visitors should be cautious as the sands can get quite hot under the sun. The inviting warm waters are perfect for a rejuvenating swim, and the beach is often adorned with sunbathers soaking up the peaceful ambiance.

The location holds a significant place in maritime history, being the historic landing site of many notable explorers including Captain Cook and Captain William Bligh. The monument dedicated to the crew of the Bounty, along with the Point Venus lighthouse and the splendid views of Matavai Bay, further augment the charm of the area.

A unique aspect of Point Venus is its position as Tahiti’s northernmost extremity, which played a crucial role during Captain James Cook's observation of the transit of Venus in 1769. Today, it's a beloved spot for picnics, with the black-sand beach, shade trees, and well-kept lawns creating a perfect setting for a leisurely day out. Whether you're a history buff, a beach lover, or someone seeking a peaceful retreat amidst nature, Point Venus offers a blend of historical richness, natural beauty, and tranquil atmospheres for a...

Charming beach with different options, the green lawn, the calm bay with crystal water and the wavy side for the sporty ones. It feels like vintage Tahiti with the old fashion pirogues. A healthy mix of Locals and tourists. I enjoyed the walk along the water with my mum in wheel chair. Parking, showers, a shop and a food truck. Come early for...
