Our visit to Te Fare Natura - L’écomusée was a very happy one! 🌺🌿

We had a friendly welcome by the staff at the front desk and were offered the opportunity to visit the museum with a guide. We chose this option (at no extra charge) and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting! We don’t think the price was unreasonable at all for tourists - many museums around the world charge both tourist and local prices for tickets, which makes sense as it encourages and allows for locals to visit more.

There sadly seem to be some really disparaging comments in the Reviews section. We want to suggest that you would have the opposite experience of those! If you first visit the museum with a guide, you will have a much more enriching experience and will benefit from local knowledge. You are more than welcome to wander around after your tour and look at any of the exhibits again and in more detail.

Our guide was very kind, professional, super patient with our switching between French and English, happily answered all our questions and had a fantastic knowledge of both the scientific facts and historical stories behind each section of the museum. All the guides / students were friendly and had great senses of humour too 😊

I’m an English-only speaker from America. I visited the center this morning with my wife and felt as though the center accommodated our needs very well.

The cost for entry was very-affordable and fairly-priced. For approx 1 hour of education and enjoying the space was approx $15 USD.

My wife and I were the first visitors of the morning; there was immediately a staff member available to walk us through the museum and to answer our questions. We found the presentation very informative and for the interest/passion of our staff member to be attractive representing the business well.

There were many groups, large and small, who visited the center in waves. I was very impressed at how staffed the centre was to receive and educate people and to provide valuable education to patrons without having them wait too long for the start of the next tour. I found this to be a great educational value to my visit to this island.

Thank you from...

We had an extraordinary experience in the museum. One Key thing: go with a guide! Although tips would be welcome and we gave one, they don't even ask for one. Our guide spent one hour with us: we went from coral preservation explanation to its threats from external and internal factors; with extra videos on ipad to playing music with traditional instruments in the beautiful main terrace fronting the bay. I understand why some comments are bad: this is not a museum you should do on your own! Otherwise you will feel disappointed! Again, come at a right time when the guides are available and I am sure you will have an experience as rewarding as ours. Maururu to the very smily, friendly and knowledgeable staff at...

This museum is a rip-off for foreigners. My brother and I were discriminated against and up charged 4x the rate of others. Displays were very minimal, broken, and all-around lacking. Best display in the entire place was a small cabinet of looted artifacts in the lobby, that you do not need to pay to see. Total waste of money. Look in the lobby, then turn around and walk away. Get yourself a nice lunch down the street- it will be a better cultural experience!

Small ecological museum with very friendly and helpful staff. Modest admission charge. Most signs and their app are in French so bring your translator app as necessary. Free WiFi is available which requires clicking a white check box to accept terms which may be difficult to see on the white background.
