5 star for the instagram worthy photos. 1 star for the terrible and arrogant customer service. During peak season, you can not drive your car you will have to take their train, it cost 13 euros as of June 2023. Train tickets get sold out in advance, highly recommend booking train ticket online in advance. Train will take around 1 hour with several stops, however most of the stops are ok for photos but not great. The train tour is given in French only, they do not speak English at all. In fact all the cashiers and staff don’t speak English or pretend don’t speak any English at all. If you miss your train or early, you can not get on early or get on late, you miss it you lose it.
The train ticket does not include walk in.. where you have to purchase that for additional 9 euros per person.
To get the best photo, better to walk in and explore on your feet. The spot where you can see the castle provides the best location for photo. However I don’t recommend taking the train . Walk in is available at the automatic gate , the ticket is good for one entrance and one exit. You will also get one yellow vest as well.
You can try to get on the train and get off /explore on foot. Walk back to the gate and wait for the next train to leave and exit with the crowd.
The lake will shine pink when it’s sunny only, so do not come on rainy or cloudy days. Come either during morning or afternoon.
If you travel by foot, bring sunscreen, water and maybe a hat. There is no...

36 EUR for a family (2x adults, 2x infants) for being allowed to access the site with our own bicycles for a tour on your own. Frankly, that‘s just rip off!!
I don‘t know the entity or organisation responsible here, but where I come from, there would be a strong public interest to ensure a natural phenomenon like this being free of charge. Don‘t know, if the authorities or the salt mining company are responsible for that. But people should be ashamed. I hope the mining company is at least grateful for having a concession to harvest salt in this natural reserve.
Bottom line: 60min of queuing, 36 EUR for (1) a googlemaps printout and (2) a guy opening a door on entry. Wow 😤!! Reminds me of dark medival times, where every lordship charged random fees for passing their territory. I thought France was over this at least after the Revolution - seems I am wrong 🧐
Anyway, it‘s not my country, and up to others to decide if this is still a legal practice or a form of modern-day waylays. As a EU citizen, I feel ashamed.
So for us: a once in a lifetime experience. Enjoy the beauty of the lagunes, take care of yourself and always carry enough...
Read moreHorrible experience. Arrived 10 minutes before our scheduled time even though they didn’t suggest this and was not greeted by anyone. Joined the queue for the tickets as even after paying for tickets online they never sent any confirmation by email. One person on ticket counter working for to help a queue of over 50 people who were standing in the midday sun, which got longer as I was in it. After getting to the counter we had missed our train and the woman at the counter said we should have said it to someone but there was no one there to say it to, my partner did laps of the premises. The woman then said they could not help us and we should have come earlier, which it says no where on the site. She said we should have used the automatic ticket machine but it was broken. Eventually she said she would put us on the 5 o'clock train which is 2 hours after our scheduled time so then we had to sit in the car park at peak heat for 2 hours due to the mismanagement and incompetence of the place. No apology, no effort made on by them at all to fix or mitigate their mistakes. Again horrible experience would not recommend . Avoid,...
