Gorges de Daluis — Attraction in Nice

This place was one of my favourite places in all of France on this grand 2,000 mile road trip. The red rock gives a beautiful desert like feel and just an hour away you got the French Alpes covered in beautiful snow! The drive here is roughly 2 hours from any big towns so be sure you have plenty of fuel. For those who don’t like heights also beware the main road here does carve out along a lot of hairpin bends with hundred foot gorges along side. It’s not busy thankfully so you don’t need to rush and from the experience we had most of the French drivers seemed sensible and polite about our driving speed, and simply pulled in to let people pass safely. The place is mind blowing and itll be a place to remember for a life time!!! Beware the only way to get here as far as I can tell is car. No indication of buses? And there are no trains here either. Also if your worried about what car you got I did this road in my 21 year old Toyota Prius designed for city use and it did perfectly fine here so no you won’t need a fancy truck for this road unless you plan to come here in...

Quasi tutte le Alpi francesi, e particolarmente quelle Centro meridionali, hanno una singolare caratteristica, molto più frequente rispetto alle Cugine italiane....sono infatti disseminate qua e là di Gole ( Gorges ), alcune Profondissime, altre Strettissime, talune Rigogliose immerse nel verde, altre Brulle simili a lunari pietraie: queste del Daluis, a pochissima distanza in linea d'aria da quelle Famosissime scavate dal torrente Verdon, si potrebbero definire "Colorate", oppure "Marziane", in quanto la Loro principale caratteristica, che Le rende davvero Pittoresche e Spettacolari, è la colorazione rossastra davvero Unica delle Imponenti ed Altissime pareti rocciose che le formano...difficile descriverle, e vi dico subito che le foto ( non solo le mie, anche quelle dei Professionisti della celluloide.. ) non rendono nemmeno lontanamente Giustizia alla Loro Bellezza, perciò il mio unico consiglio è, se potrete, di fare un viaggetto qui, fra il Parco del Verdon e quello del Mercantour, e godervi questa piccola Meraviglia ( piccola si, perché, se avete in mente le Maestose Gorges du Verdon, in rapporto di grandezza queste sono minuscole, roba di 4/6 km di strada..). Per finire vorrei fare un Plauso Personale agli ingegneri che hanno progettato le strade che rendono a Noi possibile godere della Bellezza di queste Gole, in quanto il disegno e la conformazione stessa del manto stradale, con il suo toboga di dolci curve alternate ad un pittoresco susseguirsi di fantastiche gallerie scavate nella roccia rossa, rappresentano Esse stesse un'autentico Spettacolo per gli occhi e donano un Immenso Piacere per la guida, con qualsiasi mezzo le percorrerete...DA...

I drove to Gorges de Daluis from Nice on a Sunday at 6 a.m. The road was very empty. I got a little worried when I saw some sizable rocks on the left side of the road, likely from a recent fall. Even though there are nets in place, fallen rocks can still reach the road, so be careful. The scenery was spectacular, offering views similar to those found in Colorado's Rocky Mountains and the Grand Canyon, all in one...
