What a wonderful attraction....and it's free ! Perched on a hill above Nice overlooking the Promenade and with views towards Antibes this is an oasis of calm in a bustling city. I came across it accidentally when I was walking back to my hotel from the Allianz Riviera Stadium so it was a bit of a slog up the hill but well worth it. There all kinds of plants, shrubs, cacti and flowers thriving in the Mediterranean sunshine.Paths wind there way up the hillside and at various levels there are benches to sit on and just admire the fauna whilst enjoying a snack. It is saddening to see all of the countries that have contributed plants & expertise to the Nice Jardin Botanique and that there is very little attention to maintain the gardens nor manage the survival of the multitude of plant sorts from every corner of the world. Highlight seems to be the child's playground which was well used by children during our visit. The City of Nice needs desperately to take action and set up a project to get the gardens and plants in top condition, even if it requires reaching out to the countries where the plants are located to obtain support. A cette occasion, passionnés et amateurs peuvent échanger fleurs, boutures, graines mais aussi des plantes peu courantes. Ce rendez-vous constitue également une opportunité pour rencontrer les professionnels du jardin botanique et recueillir des informations, conseils et astuces de jardinage. Cet échange sera suivi, à 14h00, d’une visite gratuite du jardin.

Un rendez-vous placé sous le signe de la convivialité

Lieu d’échange de plantes et de conseils, la bourse aux plantes est avant tout un moment convivial entre passionnés, professionnels, amateurs ou curieux. Et pour ceux qui n’ont rien à échanger, ils peuvent toujours se promener à travers les stands, poser des questions et participer aux visites de ce paradis de la biodiversité. En empruntant les petits chemins, les jardiniers feront découvrir aux visiteurs la flore d’Australie, d’Afrique du Sud, du Mexique, de Grèce, de Chypre et des îles Canaries. Ils pourront également admirer les collections nationales de sauges et d’agaves.
