We were a group of six visiting from Leicester during a week day and were greeted really warmly. They took their time to tell us how best to navigate the museum and some interesting facts about the textile history in the area. The museum has many machines and a few interesting videos which you can take you time in looking at and we had the pleasure of having a talk at the end of our tour given by Daniel who was a pleasure to meet and told us such interesting stories from his own experience as well as showing us a working machine with over 1000 needles. Particularly interesting place for those who know the area as the museum shows how the cloth industry was an integral part of the local economy. Really good video on comb-making (yes, really!), and the working demonstrations of all the old spinning and weaving machines were fascinating. Read moreWe had a wonderful tour of the museum in English. There's an extensive range of machinery, some of which we got to see working. Look out for the beautiful big Jacquard Loom...incredible. The staff are so passionate and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend a visit, but it's necessary to book the guided tour in advance.
