Golf du château d'Augerville — Attraction in Pithiviers

Another day, another golf course—our fourth stop on the Ambassador trip in France. We arrived late at night and had a chance to see the beautifully lit château.

We woke up early, checked in quickly, and began our round without any warm-up. From the first hole, I could tell this would be a challenging course. Tall trees, narrow fairways, elevated tees, and deep rough set the tone at Augerville. Despite the tough start, I managed a birdie.

The second hole is a slightly easier par 5, though it requires strategic club selection. October brought a fair amount of rain to the Paris area, so some lower fairways were soft and muddy. The course, set in a former château park, presents many challenges, with mature trees and scenic lakes. After the demanding first hole, the course opens up a bit, with wider fairways and larger greens. Despite the soft conditions, the greens rolled well, making for enjoyable play as we finished the front nine near the château.

The back nine ramps up the challenge, with uphill and downhill shots requiring precise play amid dramatic elevation changes. Here, it’s wise to avoid the driver at times, focusing instead on placement, especially on sloped fairways. I have to admit, I really enjoyed the back nine, despite some high scores on a few holes due to my limited knowledge of the course.

Je connais le restaurant du château depuis plusieurs années, mais je n y étais pas revenue depuis un moment, n étant plus dans la région. Grosse déception ; une entrée foie gras, je n en ai pas vu ? 3 ou 4 minuscules bouchées. Le poulet, rien n indique qu il est fermier, à ce prix , on peut l espérer ! Portions à minima, pour ce déjeuner, et le pain, n est pas digne de ce type de restaurant. Quant à la note , elle est très élevée rapport qualité/prix. Je déconseille...

J’ai réalisé ce parcours avec un copain et vraiment il m à régalé. Des greens très grands et surtout très techniques et un parcours sportif. Chaque trou à son charme et sa spécificité. Les fairways sont sec déjà pour la saison mais c’est assumé de la part du golf car il essaye d être éco responsables sur la gestion de l arrosage. Et que dire de ce trou 18 face au château ❤️. Sans compter le personnel. Bref...
