This gorge is beautiful and the Saint Antoine hiking trail to the Ermitage is worth seeing. Many birds nest here and far below, the L'Agly flows its way and delights many tourists in diving suits who take a guided hike over the rocks, through the water and along the small waterfalls.

The road along the gorge should definitely be walked. This is very easy because there is only one direction of travel for 2km at traffic lights. The view is also electrifying. It goes down well over 100m and there are not many railings for safety. You feel safer in the car. Almost at the end there is the official descent to the water, very safe and only 10m. Many people...

We walked from Saint Paul de Fenouillet following a photocopied copy of a photocopied map showing the the yellow route which disappeared towards the start of the gorge, so followed the red route after a bit of a detour, over and up a steep section. I would recommend visiting the Tourist Information for an original copy of the routes if you plan to walk from St Paul. Extremely windy at the top of the gorge the day we visited and the walls are only just above knee high in places! Hold your children's hands! Amazing views. Walk down to the hermitge and cave/chapel where they sell drinks and ices. If you fancy canyoning this is definitely the...

I drove through the gorge both ways with a right hand drive long wheel base ford tourneo from the reasonably priced cafe to the 4th road side parking on d10. On pic.Bit hairy in places, glad it wasn’t busy. Its doable. Took a picnic walked down to the river and the family spent all day jumping in the plunge pools, some are 25’ deep and sliding down the natural flumes. Don’t worry about where your going just explore and you’ll soon find out where to go and what to do and that this is an amazing place. You’ll need swimwear and although we just walked bare foot up and down the gorge I would recommend grippy trainers. One of the best...
