Manor Donville Memorial Bloody Gulch — Attraction in Saint-Lô

If you like Band of Brothers then this is a must. Personalised tour by the owner of the manor around the grounds and inside the property. He will show you artifacts found on site from the battle and tell you detailed information on what happened at the site including lesser known stories of atrocities committed from all sides including the American and German soldiers and the French people.

This is the owner's home and he and his family have opened up this fantastic place to the public to show just how important it was during the D Day landings in June 1945. Very confronting museal site. We were guided by the owner of the place, which was very interesting. The site sustained more than 200 casualties during the Battle of the Gulch which took place here. Signs of the fighting are still visible, like bullet and grenade holes in the 11th century building, as well as blood stains in the house (guided tour only). Pretty eery, too easy the least. Un site chargé d histoire qui fût le lieu d une bataille sanglante . J y suis allé pour profiter d une visite guidée chargée de détails et d anecdotes pour mieux comprendre et me représenter les combats . Au lieu de ça j ai eu droit aux leçons de vie du propriétaire qui avait sûrement confondu notre groupe avec ses élèves (en effet ce dernier et professeur d histoire) .durant la visite nous avons eu droit à des approximation de la part propriaitaire qui apparaissent pour lui comme paroles d évangiles il est le " sachant" Et nous devons dire amen à toutes ses affirmation . On à droit à des accroches qui nous mettent l eau à la bouche du genre " Je devrais vous montrer le site des fouilles mais vous ne le verrez pas ". Nous étions avec un vétéran de la guerre d Algérie dans notre groupe à qui le propriétaire dit je cite" alors vous avez fait des choses horribles la haut ça change un homme hein!!!" Complètement déplacé.... J en passe et des meilleurs un film aurait été plus parlant . Tout ça pour dire que ce mémorial et musé qui apparaît fort intéressant pour les amateurs éclairés que nous sommes enfin au yeux du propriétaire nous sommes certainement que de véritables amateurs est gâché par le discours et la façon de parler à la limite de l impolitesse...
