This is the entrance to Mafate cirque, one os the 3 cirques along with Cilaos ans Salazie. The only acces here is by Salazie coming from St Andre. It takes around 1h30 from St Andre to get here. Mafate is the only cirque qccesible by foot! You have here the opportunity to view Salazie and Mafate from above merely at the same time! There is a guarded parking if you wanna hike to Mafate which costs 14euros per night and i think 7 per day. I live in Reunion Island and it is been now more than 10 times I have been to Mafate by Col des Boeufs and i left my car in the parkings (non giarded) before this guarded on and nothing happened! Take good care driving case at times might be slippery! When the sky is clear you have amazing views over the Salazie and Mafate. Take some clothes, it is chilly to very cold during the season. Near the shore you may have 30° and at the Cole you may find 20°...
