I waited till my son and his girlfriend could visit us to go to see this and it did not disappoint. The cave is situated up a flight of stairs, but once you are there and enter the cave it is magical. Quite narrow and low in places, but totally authentic and fascinating. I wouldn't advise taking kids under the age of eight, but for older teenagers and adults it was interesting. We personally found it very interesting an our guide Elisabeth was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. In a small group this is well worth the visit. My son said it was the highlight of his visit to the Dordogne (he's doing Geography at Uni). Big car park and restaurant on site. Interesting 3D film...

The Grotte du Grand Roc offers a truly unique and mesmerizing experience for those seeking to explore the mysterious world of underground caves. Nestled in the picturesque Dordogne region of France, this natural wonder is a hidden gem waiting to be viewed. Minerals including crystallizations, calcite flows, stalactites, stalagmites, pillars, eccentric stalactites, and draperies are found.

Didn't realize the tour was in French, though our guide did explain a few things in English which was extremely kind. Ask for the English synopsis before entering, it will...

We were lucky enough to get tickets for the visit by storm lamp in the evening. We had a great time, was quite an experience, especially when we turned the lamps out briefly to watch the strange glowing of the crystalline formations. The tour was all in French however we got the gist and the guide did come and explain the key points to us too (the only English speakers on the tour), he was very good, funny and clearly knowledgeable. The caves aren't massive but they are packed with amazing formations and tunnels and tour was just over an hour....

Interesting geological cave. Entrance fee somewhat pricey for what you get. The tour is separated into French and English speaking, with the English at the back. The tour guide spoke a lot in French and hardly anything in English so not really a tour as most of what she said you could probably remember from school. For that reason very disappointed in the attraction. Would be better to have English only tour or specifically tell visitors from outset that the English description will be limited thus you know what to expect.

Great small cave if you never seen stalactite and stalagmites it’s a must , if you did I still recommend as it’s really nice and the tour guide gives detail explanation on the formation etc. Note there are about 70 stairs to walk up to the cave entrance. You might need to wait but luckily we arrive last just as tour was about to start so no wait time for us.
