After I read on google maps that the cave is open, I cycled there from Les Eyzies in the heat of August (more than 30°C and steep upwards at the end), just to get the short information in a good English: "yes, it is open but it's already full (=closed) for today. You must call by phone or reservate via internet. Come again tomorrow." I told him I had to return the day after more than thousand kilo back to Hamburg, but he insisted on "no entry". There are probably more but we saw about 5 or 6 carvings (they are not paintings as in lascaux).
