LANGLOIS | Boutique - Dégustation - Visites des Caves — Attraction in Saumur

We had a short, week long stay near Saumur and after trying local wines that were available in the Supermarket, we decided to go and visit a wine house/cave. Langlois-Chateau was a fantastic choice, it is a neatly presented, modern venue that somehow still has that personal and homely feel. Our guide to wines was brilliant, he was both informative and humorous and discussed each wine with us, providing fantastic facts, knowledge and understanding. I would heartily recommend this cave for a visit. As a family we left with a variety of wines (over 18 bottles, red, pink and white) and would have happily taken more had we been able to!

It's also worth mentioning that you get a slightly cheaper price per bottle if you buy in bulk, with which you can mix and match different wines, not just bulk of one purchase.

For fans of red, they also have a sparkling red which was a novelty to try!

They do tours in French and English at different times, we booked on a French tour because it was the next one to run (one of our group is French so we planned on just having her translate). The guide, Maelys, ended up doing the tour and tasting in both French and English for us. Maelys was absolutely fantastic, passionate about the wine and very knowledgeable. It was 5 euros for the tour and tasting which was great value (you could pay a little more to do the wine school too). The wines were brilliant so we ended up buying a mixed case but there was absolutely no pressure to do so. Would definitely...

The tour cost 5 euros. We booked a place in the morning for that afternoon, but on our tour there were spaces available for people turning up beforehand. Our guide, Pierre, was friendly and informative. The tour lasted about an hour - including a short description about how wine is made, a tour of the factory showing how automation has improved bottling techniques, and look around the caves. This was followed by a half hour tasting of 7 or 8 wines, which was included in the price. The tour cost is refundable if you purchase 3 bottles of wine. There is ample free parking...
