We rented this place for two nights with a group of 20 people. When we arrived the outside seemed amazing and a really unique and cool place to stay in. However when entering the building we immediately thought the kitchen to be rather small and unpractical to use for bigger groups. There's no real 'working' space except for a wooden table. The dining area wasn't big enough to sit our entire crowd even when the house gets rented out for maximum 21 people. Luckily the weather was nice so we had breakfast outside where we had a big picknick table and we used the fireplace in the evening which was also a nice feature to have. When scouting the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms it really gives you an abandoned and creepy feeling. The old pictures and crosses on the walls gave us more the vibe like we were staying in a 'haunted' castle. We could definitely look besides this but the state the castle is in is really below average. The wallpaper is peeling off, the place was dirty, the smell of moist and fungus hangs in the castle. They mention the castle is under 'renovation' but that doesn't describe the actual BAD state of the castle. My boyfriend being a asbestos inspector found loose bounded ASBESTOS wires in the old stove in the kitchen which is actually a hazard and in Belgium it wouldn't be allowed to rent out this place with a hazard like that'. We slept in the highest room on the right where I discovered a few dead and living wasps which we found out came from a wasps nest outside the window where the wasps have already found their way inside. When knocking on the closed door in the room which is blocked by an extra bed you can hear an animal moving around. I would not even stay here again if I was being paid to stay. I would not recommend to stay here before this castle has been entirely renovated. I guess this once was a great place to stay in but this...
Read moreOur group of 8 friends recently had the unforgettable pleasure of staying in this stunning castle, and we couldn't have been more delighted by the entire experience. From the moment we arrived, we were taken aback by the sheer beauty of the property. Despite the ongoing renovations, the owner has managed to preserve the castle's authentic charm and character, creating a perfect blend of history and modern comfort.
The castle itself is a masterpiece, with majestic rooms and breathtaking views at every turn. Each corner was filled with a sense of grandeur, yet we felt completely at home and comfortable. The renovation work was tasteful, ensuring that the space retained its historic soul while offering us all the amenities needed for a memorable stay.
Edel's warmth and attentiveness, made our stay even more special. Always available to assist us, he always ensured our needs were met, making us feel like valued guests rather than just renters.
This castle is more than just a place to stay; it's an immersive journey into history, comfort, and luxury. We’ll cherish these memories forever and are already planning our return.
Highly recommend to anyone seeking a truly unique and...
Read moreWe rented this place over the weekend with a group of 20 friends. We really don't understand how this place can get such good reviews.
The castle looks like an abandoned place that has been neglected for years. The rooms have moist problems, there is mold on the walls, asbestos in the oven!!, wallpaper coming off, the windows are old and frames are peeling, a wasp nest, the closets are stuffed with random equipment, stones on the stairs outside are coming loose, ... The dining table doesn't have enough space to have everyone seated eventhough the place should "fit" these large groups, and so on..
It looks nothing like in the pictures or how it is profiled... The place is just dirty overall and not worth the money (which is enough)! If it was not for the great group-atmosphere we would have left the building.
The place has a lot of potential but the shape it is in now is just a big no.
So, once again, no idea how this place can have such a...
