This is a beautiful place that will stick in your memory. We went up a hiking trail all the way to the small loop, then came down the middle 'blue' trail by the stream with waterfalls. It was really worth it! You need to have good shoes (not flip-flops) because you cross the stream several times on slippery rocks... you walk on wet paths holding onto ropes. It's a great experience, as the views are unforgettable. The whole thing took us about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Warning! The trail is poorly marked. After you reach the picnic tables, you need to go straight ahead and be careful—there's an unmarked descent downwards and only a few meters below is the sign for the small loop and the descent by the river. Inattentive people might accidentally take the large loop...

The Botanical Garden Jardin d’eau Vaipahi is a lush tropical paradise. I loved this spot.

Our guide was phenomenal—an absolute fountain of knowledge about every flower and tree in the garden. Her passion for the flora and fauna made the tour both educational and inspiring. Tahitians are resourceful and use leaves for plates and branches for roofs and the list goes on. We had the chance to sample smoky breadfruit, a local delicacy that was delicious and unlike anything I’ve tasted before.

One of the standout moments was encountering the eel. This majestic creature, with its striking blue eyes, felt like it was guarding the garden.

If you’re a flora and fauna enthusiast, don’t...

This botanical garden was impressive with the islands native flowers and plants. Each uniquely beautiful and rare. The walk along the path is so visually embracing I actually stepped out of the path and got stuck in mud. No need to worry I was gine but not my flip flop. No matter I was able to buy some new ones later that day, thankfully. The path to the waterfall was spectacular as you turn around the bend and there it is. Just nature in it's glory of beauty. The only downfall was that mosquitoes had a feast with me so it made my visit shorter than I would have liked. Other than that, go prepared and it...

Hard to believe this FREE, but it is, and they have a nice parking lot and a gift store with snacks (buy a coffee or local beverage to support the facility). Free restrooms. Well marked path with labeled plants and explanations. Beautifully manicured and laid out with a number of pretty water features. Some seating areas, really it is hard to think of anything to complain about....but I suppose the only small wish is that it would focus on LOCAL, native plants....but most of the featured plants are invasive/ imports. Nevertheless, it is a GREAT garden and completely free so definitely don't miss it.
