CHATEAU DE JULIENAS — Attraction in Villefranche-sur-Saône

Great afternoon visiting the various vineyards of the Chateau de Juliénas in the Wine Truck with Thierry explaining the teroir and work undertaken to produce his Juliénas, Fleurie and Moulin-à-vent wines. Tasting the wines whilst in the actual vineyards is such a pleasurable event and provides memories each time you drink one of these fab wines. Definitely one of the best wine experiences in the area. A great visit hosted by Anita who was perfect in English and who took the time to answer all our questions. Tour covered the manufacturing and storage processes and the Chateau's journey to becoming organic. We have come away with a much better understanding of the wines of this region and had an opportunity to taste 5 red cuvees of the Chateau including a Fleurie, three Julienas and a Moulin a Vent. The welcome we received from Anita was warm genuine and friendly. Her excellent english and enthusiasm made us feel completely at ease and we were taken into the heart of this magnificent chateau.
