Chateau de Gavaudun — Attraction in Villeneuve-sur-Lot

A small village surrounds this Chateau that sits perched on top of rocks high above it. Parking is free. A short walk to the entrance, where you are given an information booklet. Very informative. The entrance climbs up inside the cliff. Very narrow steps and at times you have to almost pull yourself up but well worth the effort. You can climb to the top of the tower visiting the different floors up spiral stairways. All with great views....

Verry nice and authentic castle/fort. The castle is almost as it was with only railings added for safety. You can go completely to the top where you have a nice view of the area. There is also a 'treasure hunt' for the children! It has many smal ans steep stairs so prepare...

Sehens- und besuchenswerte Burgruine auf einem engen Felsengipfel. Die Lage der Burg auf den langen und engen Felsen ist wirklich toll, die Aussicht auf das umliegende Tal entsprechend. Der Aufstieg zur Burg durch eine leicht erweiterte Höhle mit einer engen Wendeltreppe war großartig. Durch diesen Einstieg allein ist ein Besuch nur Personen zu raten, die gut unregelmäßige und ausgetretene Stufen steigen können. Der gut erhaltene, voll begehbare und enorm hoch wirkende Bergfried/Donjon mit einer Bauhöhe von über 20 Metern (Gesamthöhe somit wohl etwa 70 Meter) ist neben dem Einstieg und der Aussicht sicherlich der Höhepunkt. Auf der Burg beschreiben zahlreiche Tafeln auf französisch und deutsch den Bau anschaulich. Der Eintritt von 5€ (Erwachsene (Juli 2021)) war aus unserer Sicht gerechtfertigt, der Besuch absolut...
