Surpriiise 🌄 i was not able to hitchhike up to the protected areas - firstly i went to Kvemo Kedi and got stuck, secondly i arrived to Kasritskali in a truck before sunset and a lady spontaneously hosted me then i was lazy to wait at the intersection going south to the trails so i hitchhiked back instead - despite of this, I've been so thankful for the welcome, plenty of information and help to find a shared ride given by the young, broad-minded employee.
As a slow backpacker, i was offered to use the kitchen in the office, which is such a luxury when you try to access a desertic area with some uncooked food.
3 groups of travellers came to register their cars in the morning, so don't hesitate come here and let the adventure begin!
Pro-tips: try the old bakery

Well first I have been surprised that the lady at the counter spoke so good english. But she had absolutely wrong information!! She said: Its easy to cycle in Vashlovani NP, there are good roads, just the way to the Park is a problem because of farm dogs. Roads please see pictures. Even Georgians from Tibilisi complained about Road. If I want, the Ranger can drive me from Rangerstation to Rangerstation. Ranger don't have cars at the station. They stay for 6 days and nights, get driven in and out. They even have no antitoxin if you get bitten by the poisons snakes. Yes the River Alazani has clear water and at this Rangestation is a water well. The River Alazani has grey, sandy water and the well has water with a bit sulphur in, but it is drinkable. Toilets at the Rangerstations are broken or there is just a woodensheed with a hole in the ground. After my question if the Ranger can pick me up after 6 days with laguage and bicycle and how much it cost. I just should ring her the price will be 250 Lari. I rang her after 5 days and it cost 450 Lari, so organized a privat driver over Teo' Lodge and it cost 250 Lari. Pleased drivers got a tip money from me. So dont trust those...
Read moreCool landscape and different vibe than the rest of the country. It reminded me of the American Southwest. Be sure to check out the Shiraki Soviet Airbase on your way to the park. The road is very bumpy in parts and I was a bit dismayed to see so many herders with their sheep and cattle grazing on the NP lands. Georgia will never see its leopard and gazelle population increase if it treats its national parks like this. Still, the views were great and I recommend visiting if you are living in Georgia and seen all...
