Polluted, unsupervised, rather strangely reconstructed and left halfway unfinished. The national flag above it tore apart and looks like nobody cares much. Kind of strange where every one brags about their ancient history, yet at the same time are unable to maintain their own historical monuments. The brick road leading up to the fortress is being constructed, but looks like contractors hired to do the job don't care much and heavily pollute nearby...

The fortress is only a small climb up. There are lovely views over the area. Theres no cost, nor any shop or toilets or anything, it really is an old ruin! We came around 10am on a February weekday and our taxi driver seemed to think we were mad asking to be dropped there! We were the only tourists. But it was worth starting there, and then walking back down to the town via the monastery and a collection of horses we...

An old fortress, although you won't be surprised by such things in Georgia (in a good way), but the view is simply wonderful. In addition, the location is easy to get to, there are convenient parking lots nearby. Entrance is free. A great place to take a walk and then have a small picnic in the...
