A beautiful zoo, incomparable with larger commercial ones: this is a private family business with all work done with a only a handful of staff.
Tigers, lions, owls, cats, alpacas, deer and many more species just around the corner and up close.
Visiting this zoo was a surprise for us and it fitted the Eifel arena with its great scenic and nature.
The atmosphere is almost magic and brings you back to the happy times of earlier decades. Not surprisingly if you read the website and the story of the founder. The general state of the zoo is still very good for 2017 and plans for upgrades are made.
All structures were maintained and functional. Big element of hapiness was the fuel powered loc and train that brought us to the deer were they ate grain from our hands. Also the playground with all kinds of gear was enjoyable.
My family, amongst them two younger kids, enjoyed the day. We could get really close to the animals. They were taken care of very wel. Their food was fresh and their living areas clean and tidy.
Staff was very helpful and friendly, also for the kids. Just ask them if you have questions.
tip: take the L12 and L20 road when coming from the North, enjoy the scenic forests...
Read moreI really don’t understand all negative reviews here, because zoo is amazing!!! First of all, beautiful location! It’s not just a typical boring park with animals. It’s a unique place, surrounded by mountain river and all the details is so lovely like beautiful old sculptures, beautiful garden, trees. Animals have good space to live, it’s clear to see that owners love them and take care good. It’s a pity that part of the zoo destroyed because of flood, it’s still a lot to do. I think this beautiful place deserve more support! Railway will probably starts to work since Easter. Would be cool if grill will work also))) Some people wrote before that wc was dirty which isn’t true (maybe before was like that), now it’s good, clean, nice. Workers super nice and friendly! I want to tell them thank you for not giving up and taking care about this beautiful zoo and lovely animals! PS: would be cool if people could feed animals with food which they like) maybe more fresh fruits (owners should know better), it’s just my idea. PPS: we will definitely come...
Read moreA beautiful entry, along the little river, leading up to the kanguru paddock, then you arrive to the lions. The 2 we could see were handsome and in good health. The trail then leads to water birds, buffalos (!), lamas, donkeys, yaks, sheep. The main attractions, the little train, although advertised on the site, is not working. Actually we learned it has not been working since 2018! The charming "mini-village" Is not maintained and has fallen into disrepair, a real shame. The playground is a bit small and quite basic and could easily get overcrowded. Altogether, the zoo fails to convince, lacks in diversity and is rather small. There is no paddock were the kids can actually interact with small animals. Entrance is comparatively expensive (10€ adults, 8€ children over 3!) and you are finished within 2h,...
